- Please let them know that youre with the CI for MSIs
Conference at SDSC to get that rate.
- The block will only be held (and the discounted rate) until
January 18th. which has already past ......
Transportation from Airport
- A free shuttle to the hotel is available from the San Diego Airport
(Lindbergh Field).
- When you arrive at the San Diego Airport, just call the hotel at
(858) 453-5500 and theyll send out a shuttle to pick you up.
- The hotel is about 15 minutes from the airport, so you shouldnt
have to wait too long.
Transportation between Hotel and SDSC
- There is a map that is available at:
http://blink.ucsd.edu/Blink/Images/Gallery/3394ar.jpg
- There is a campus loop shuttle that runs around campus. The closest
place to the hotel to catch it is at the Gilman Parking Structure (#16 on the
map).
- The shuttle schedule is
online
- SDSC is next door to the RIMAC Center (main gym) or stop # 10.
Theres a lot of construction in front of SDSC that mostly obliterates the
parking lot, so the campus isnt as clearly marked as the map suggests.
- Alternatively the approximately 20 minute walk across campus,
though, is lovely, especially if you go past the Price Center (student center)
and the library on your way.
- Alternatively if you decide to rent a car, the best place to
park on campus is the Pangea parking structure, which is next to Eleanor
Roosevelt College. There are meters that can be fed every 2 hours, or you can
purchase a permit at $6 per day from one of the Visitor Information/ Parking
kiosks. See the map to find
one.
- To get to SDSC from Pangea parking, walk due east through Eleanor
Roosevelt College.
- The Supercomputer Center SDSC is a
4-5 story building with satellite dishes on top. Enter on the first floor if
you come from the west, or from the basement if you come from the east. Take
the elevator to the first floor and the auditorium will be to your right as you
exit the elevator, next to the glass entry doors.
- Walking to SDSC (about 35 minutes). Two useful links will help
you find your way around campus. The first is the
map
of UCSD. For reference, the Radisson is just off Via La Jolla, 1 block south of
La Jolla Village Drive. The Residence Inn is about a block south of La Jolla
Village Drive, on Gilman Drive. To get to campus from either hotel, just walk
north and cross (or go under, if on Gilman Dr.) La Jolla Village Drive onto the
campus. Once youre on campus, you can use the directions provided on
SDSCs TeacherTECH
web
site. The linked detail map shows the section of campus immediately around
SDSC. A combination of both maps will probably be your best bet. Dont
forget that there are also lots of friendly students who can help you find your
way. We will try to have copies of maps available at the Radisson. We suggest
you use the pathway between SDSC and Eleanor Roosevelt College to reach SDSC
from the south. SDSC is a 5-story building with several satellite dishes on the
roof. (One of the smaller dishes has a happy face.) Turn right on the path into
SDSC and you will reach the main reception area and the auditorium. The
auditorium of SDSC is on the first floor immediately inside the main doors, on
your left. If you enter from the parking lot just east of the building, the
auditorium is one level up. There will be signs posted to direct you to the
workshop.
- If you care to take the walk (weather permitting), a group will be
meeting in the hotel lobby at 7:45 am on Monday. Otherwise please take a
Taxi

Access Grid Information
SDSC is eagerly looking forward to the upcoming MSI CI Institute January
30-31. In order to facilitate AG participation in the event both by
presenters and by observers SDSC needs to know the names of the sites
that want to participate with e-mail addresses for the AG contact and the
participant. When SDSC sets up the meeting, we can then invite them
to participate and give them the link. For the AG presenters, we also need to
know what they plan to present (slides, video, etc.) so we can make sure
itll show up properly. We usually we ask for those materials to be
e-mailed at least a day ahead of time so we can load them on our host machine.
All the presenters and potential drop in AG participants should
send that information to vtc@sdsc.edu
our AG operators with a cc to Diane Baxter
dbaxter@sdsc.edu. SDSC will contact each
sites AG operator to test the system and make sure everything works
seamlessly. We like to do this ahead of time, so sooner is better than later to
contact SDSC.
