The Gateway Computational Web Portal Overview : This paper is an overview of Gateway and the services it provides. The paper describes overall design philosophy, software components, and relevant issues. Finally, the paper discusses future direction and technologies to watch. Review : As noted in the paper, Gateway has a significant history and has uncovered many of the problems in actual implementation that are not obvious during the design phase. Of particular significance are local HPC policies and security concerns. The paper does an excellent job of explaining the design decisions and the components that comprise Gateway. The section on security is excellent and hints at a move away from client installed software. As with most Java heavy systems, the casual reader will need to become familiar with much of the terminology and concepts. For the intended audience however, I feel the level of complexity is absolutely appropriate. Recommendation : Publish as is.
