• FutureGrid Grid Cloud and HPC Testebed and Associated Infrastructure as a Service Research is summarized in a Book Chapter
• SALSA project investigates new programming models of parallel multicore computing and Cloud/Grid computing. It aims at developing and applying parallel and distributed Cyberinfrastructure to support large scale data analysis.
• Grid Cloud and HPC Architectures Research is illustrated by two papers: Data Intensive Applications on Clouds and Large scale data analytics on clouds
• GreenIT and Scientific workflow project moved July 2009 to CGL
• TAS XSEDE Technology Auditing Project as illustrated by Performance metrics and auditing framework using application kernels for high performance computer systems
• Polar Grid designs and deploys the Cyberinfrastructure for support of science studies of ice-sheets and glaciers as illustrated by a recent presentation
• SPIDAL High Performance Scalable Interoperable Data Analytics Library is illustrated by two papers: Robust Scalable Visualized Clustering in Metric and non-Metric Spaces and Deterministic Annealing and Robust Scalable Data mining for the Data Deluge
• Applications of SPIDAL to Bioinformatics challenges is illustrated by web sites Million Sequence Clustering The Fungi Phylogenetic Project and The COG Project with typical paper DACIDR: Deterministic Annealed Clustering with Interpolative Dimension Reduction using a Large Collection of 16S rRNA Sequences
• Sensor Cloud for the Internet of Things is summarized in White Paper
• eHumanity cultural portal developed for AIHEC (the American Indian Higher Education Consortium) with NEH (National Endowment for Humanities) funding. This project is concluded but as a final wrap-up, we plans to release eHumanity as an open source portal software that can be conveniently downloaded and installed by organizations such as Museums, Libraries and other individuals.
• QuakeSim/SERVOGrid: In collaboration with NASA JPL and other partners, we build Web Services and portals to support distributed geophysics applications for the investigation of earthquakes. This was a co-winner of NASA Software of the year award
• Minority Serving Institutions (MSI)- Cyberinfrastructure Empowerment Coalition (MSI-CIEC) Portal. We participate and help design pro-active Campus visits "Cyberinfrastructure Days" to jump start use. We also run summer programs for computationally oriented students from under represented communities. See SALSA laboratory summer activities

Inactive Projects

• The Open Grid Computing Environments project is a collaboration to build reusable components and services for constructing Grids
• Portal for Minority-Serving Institutions Cyberinfrastructure Institute started by the Alliance for Equity in Higher Education
• GIS Grid Research We investigate the integration of Geographical Information System services with Grids and Web Service Architectures.
• Chemical Informatics and Cyberinfrastructure Collaboratory (CICC): The CICC was an NIH-funded collaboration between the Community Grids Lab, the Indiana University School of Informatics, and the IU Department of Chemistry, and several international academic and industrial partners to build the Web Service and Grid infrastructure needed to support the integration of distributed data and computational services for cancer research.
• NaradaBrokering: NaradaBrokering is an event broker and distribution system that supports Grid and web services with features of both the Java Message Service (JMS) and the peer-to-peer technology JXTA. This project was led by Shrideep Pallickara
• Carousel (Collaboration Framework for Universal Accessebility): This project developed the environment supporting ubiquitous accessing to Community Grid systems from various small wireless devices
  such as Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). These devices are running the Microsoft Windows CE or PalmOS and working with traditional desktop computer.
• HPJava: This project has developed libraries and preprocessors to facilitate scientific and parallel programming in Java.
• GlobalMMCS: We investigated the integration of several different audio/video technologies through the use of service oriented architectures, software messaging, and generalized session protocols.
