This is Task 1

The Director has just identified that there are funds available for high performer bonuses for the first time in two years. You have $1,000 to distribute as performance bonuses as you judge appropriate. This will allow a high performer(s) to receive a one-time bonus of up to $1,000, this money can be distributed as you see appropriate but is not to exceed $1,000. As the department’s manager, you are to distribute awards to the "top" performer(s) in your department according to performance evaluation results. The performance evaluation component should be the critical part of your decision. Your choice is limited to Mark and Rebecca, their performance evaluations are attached. Any undistributed funds will be reallocated for another department’s bonuses.

Mark Smith

Mark has been with the department for 54 months. He has received outstanding performance evaluations and has been a valued employee. He is outgoing and well-liked by his colleagues. He has done excellent work, although in the past several months, with the arrival of his first child, he has been less willing to put in overtime and his performance has had a slight decrease. Though he is still fulfilling his 40 hours a week. Still a valued employee, it is obvious that he has been under stress, part of that is financial due to the addition to the family.

Doug Williams

Doug has been with the organization for 17 months. He is young and energetic. Since he has come on board, he has done excellent work and has had outstanding performance appraisals. He is known for working long hours; he is single and offers much of her personal time to his job. He is also well liked by his colleagues and extremely dedicated to the organization.
