IOE is a joined project of ARL and ASC
NAVO and CEWES are not on board, but this situation can change; Center’s directors will meet in 8-9 September; they should be informed about IOE effort
ASC suggests (Bill Asbury)
IOE should be a standalone system
IOE should be compatible with GATEWAY (can later be plugged in into Gateway)
WebFlow should be used as a middle tier (Does IOE need any Webflow functionality)
ASC has already database available for MSRC
some elements are already developed; ASC does not want to fund twice the same thing

This should be integrated with PET-IOE
Technical Meeting
Focus on technology discussion: one technology can be implemented immediately, better technology can be implemented later
ARL wants to understand what capabilities they can get
ARL would like to see some functionality in shorter period of time
We should discuss priorities (what can be delivered and when); timeline for deliverables
We should come up with the proposal on priorities
Later ARL and ASC can come up with the decision what is important and what is not
Results of Technical Meeting will be provided to ARL and ASC on Monday
Approach
Built something and demonstrate capabilities in 3-6 months
Build framework, environment, test-bed development
It should be demonstrated to all center’s directors
Scalability important (built into technology; number of users independent)
Security also extremely important

Portal environment
Web-based interface
Secure web-based environment: Kerberos authentication, SSL encryption, PKI, Security on document level
Applications: Document Repository, Calendaring, Email repository, Discussion Spaces, Training Management System, Project Database Management
Type of documents: PDF, DOC, PPT, HTML, multimedia ?; Tech report one per year per each project
