Overview

HTTP Cookie Library is a Perl 4 and 5 compatible library which allows you to easily use Persistent Client State HTTP Cookies by allowing you to get the cookies from the environment, set cookies, cookies, compress multiple cookies into one, change the expiration date, domain and path, and more all with easy subroutine calls. There are several downloading options available below and more information on this script can be found in the Readme file.

Readme

The Readme files at Matt's Script Archive contain detailed installation, configuration and usage instructions, which take you step by step from putting the scripts on your system to using them in your web pages. You should read these through and keep them by you when setting up or installing any MSA script. It is probably not a bad idea to print them out. Each compressed script package contains a plain text version of the Readme file, however the links below will take you to their HTML counterparts.

Downloading

HTTP Cookie Library can be downloaded in several different formats, or you can even have it mailed to you as a uuencoded file. Click on one of the links below to the appropriately compressed file and download options will appear.
    • cookielib.tar.gz (11.9K)
    • cookielib.zip (13.7K)
    • cookielib.tar.Z (17.5K)
    • cookielib.tar (51.2K)

    • You can also view each of the three files individually:

      cookie.lib
The perl library which contains the code for HTTP Cookie Library.
      README
Includes installation instructions and a detailed description of how to set up HTTP Cookie Library to work with your exisiting CGI scripts.
      ccounter.pl
An example of how to use the HTTP Cookie Library in a CGI script.

Working Demo

Several scripts at Matt's Script Archive lend themselves well to local working demonstrations. The HTTP Cookie Library is one of these and the working demo of ccounter.cgi, which accompanies cookie.lib in the compressed packages is available below. More examples of these scripts in action can be found in the 'Scripts Around the World' section of MSA.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Frequently Asked Questions Archive at MSA is the easiest and fastest way to get help. It contains a list of the most commonly asked questions as well as their answers. Check these out before you seek other means of help, as your question may be answered here already.

HTTP Cookie Library in Action

If you wish to see examples of Matt's Script Archive's CGI scripts used around the Internet, you only need to check the Scripts Around the World section. See what the scripts look like in action on real web pages, but be considerate as these are actual implementations.

HTTP Cookie Library Extras

Because the HTTP Cookie Library hooks into pre-existing scripts to provide cookie capability, there are several scripts out on the web which utilize this program. Below are those that I am aware of:

      WebBBS 2.10
WebBBS is a Web-based bulletin board script offering configurable index display, easy administration, built-in keyword and author search capability, cookie support and much more!

      Auto Form Decoder (Japanese)
This site is actually a "how to setup" page written in Japanese. The script is a combo-form which decodes the FORM inputs, sends the admin the url-decoded result, and lastly reports to the user about the result.
