About... LSI Searching ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are three LSI search options. * Word Search: You can enter any number of words for LSI searching. 1. Type the words in the box labeled "Query string" 2. Select the "Word search" button LSI will return a Rank-Ordered list of best matching documents. Words in the text that directly match your query words will be HIGHLIGHTED, but some matching documents may not share any words with your query. You can then try additional Word searches or Like These searches. * Like These Search (only available in forms interface): "Like These" (or relevance feedback) searches take advantage of the fact that it is often easier to recognize relevant documents than it is to describe your interests by means of keywords. Once you've found some documents that you like, LSI will find more "Like These" for you. 1. Select the documents you like (using the check boxes on the left of the screen). 2. Select the "Like These Search" button. LSI will return a Rank-Ordered list of best matching documents. You can then try additional Word searches or Like These searches. * Word and Like These Search (only available in forms interface): This combines words in the Query string box with documents you have checked. 1. Type the words in the box labeled "Query string" 2. Select the documents you like (using the check boxes on the left of the screen). 3. Select the "Word and Like These Search" button. LSI will return a Rank-Ordered list of best matching documents. You can then try additional Word searches or Like These searches.
