Dear Professor Fox, We have updated the paper based on referee comments, and have added suggestions from all responses made by referees. The updates to the paper include: In response to Referee1: 1. The reasons and advantages of using XML in the conclusions section 2. Comparion of our work with other existing approaches in the `Previous work' section 3. A more in-depth comparison with JavaBeans 4. Re-worded part of the abstract to make it more clear 5. Added reference to a more complex application, in addition to the mathematical equation editor In response to Referee2: 1. Elimated two figures 2. Replaced the JESS Applet window with a text based session In response to Referee3: 1. Defined in more detail the component model, and the use of multi-tier approach in the application 2. The architecture of the PSE is now described in greater detail, and the three tiers are explained 3.
