Foil 17 Futures

From Architecture and Implementation of JavaScript Shared Browser Tango Group Seminar -- 26 March 99. by Geoffrey C. Fox

1 Web pages have a rich set of properties and events inducing (or indicating) their change
  • Current set up is incomplete and different between Netscape and MicroSoft
2 W3C DOM is gradually defining a more elegant structure but unclear that they have got it right
3 TangoInteractive with its JavaScript API is one of most serious tests
4 We can use nonmaster customization to support user dependent rendering and so achieve universal (cross disability) access
  • As a given foil is pulled down by teacher, one visually handicapped student gets audio version, while somebody stuck on a low bandwidth network gets the low resolution version
  • Quite interesting to support multiple views of same page/event on a single machine
