Both Types of equations can be written in matrix form
Elliptic or Steady State Hyperbolic-Parabolic as in steady state CFD
Note is typically not diagonally dominant
as off diagonal terms are of same size as diagonal e,g. in two dimensions Lapace Iteration matrix is:
with sum of elements in
general row zero
Time dependent Hyperbolic or Parabolic
Note is typically nearly diagonal as in NAS case:
