The equipment will be used in two areas: a) Education Technology (75% use) b) Parallel Computing (25% use) Both of these activities started with 11 year CRPC Project and have continued with other projects developed with CRPC These projects are being transferred to FSU. The Grants involved are: 1) NSF 9872125 Already Transferred 2) Grants from NSF via NCSA Alliance -- Transfer almost complete 3) ERDC PET Program (DoD) Terminates around March 26 2000 at Syracuse 4) ASC PET Program (DoD) Terminates around May 12 2000 at Syracuse 5) ARL PET Program expected to be transferred August 2000 Grants 2) to 5) are collaborative with Rice University (CRPC Lead) Note the Sun equipment had a net discount of 75% and Sun gave us $200K of equipment ($400K list at typical 50% discount) for around $100K. It is worth noting that Sun did this in special recognition of work in grants 1) and 2). Also note that some machines are in fact billed at zero cost. Tina Mucci and Matt Clarke know all the details of grants I am on travel and not back till friday. Thank you.
