Vladimir Getov is a very talented researcher whose background in Eastern Europe has kept his abilities "hidden". However I am highly impressed by Vladimir and give him an unreserved exceptional reference. His research is innovative and at the leading edge of technology. Further he communicates well and has got a good reputation for his service to the international community as part of the Java Grande Forum. These achievements bring visibility to Westminster and ensure that its students have access to the latest technology ideas in their classes and research projects. Vladimir and I first met as part of our Java Grande activities which is a set of community activities designed to explore the issues relevant for using Java in high performance (Grande) applications. Vladimir was an early worker in this field which in my opinion offers a lot of excellent research topics. His work on linking Java to MPI was highly regarded and succesful. Vladimir is a natural leader and he became the coordinater of our Java-MPI subgroup and he has led this very effectively. He has established a good international reputation and I expect that he will contnue to expand on this opportunity. Vladimir and I have an active current "long distance" collaboration on designing good message passing interface to Java. I find this intellectually stimulating and hope it continues. Vladimir is an excellent colleague and has my strongest support for the prestiguous promotion to Professor. He meets your high internationally ranked standards.
