Learning Technologies Highlights
1) Internetics presentations at Chautauqua at New Mexico (August 9) and to
  NCSA External Advisory Committee(September 21). This generalization of
  Computation Science proposed by Larry Smarr as "The Unrealized Scientific Challenge: Retraining Scientists for the Information Age". He suggested preparation of Alliance wide
  material of this type with initial testing of the training material on Alliance scientists.

2) Central State 3rd Annual Training Workshop Dayton Ohio July 23 1999
   Presentation on distance education and Tango technology tutorial. Half day activity
   given by Fox and Podgorny to HBCU attendees and DoD HPC Modernization staff

3) Montreal XML Developers Meeting August 19-20 1999
   Fox gave a presentation on the role of XML in collaboration and universal access
   (Alliance work with Trace Center) at a workshop attended by leading commercial XML
   developers.

4) SURA Meeting September 8 1999
   Fox gave an invited presentation on collaboration and distance education
   at Internet2 meeting organized by SURA at the University of Alabama at Birmingham

5) National Academy of Sciences Collaboration Briefing September 21 1999
   On the basis of SURA talk, Fox was invited to discuss with technical and
   scientific leaders of the National Academy, the possible use of collaborative
   technology in NAS operations (committee meetings and workshops)
