It will be filled out with your amd your european colleagues presenations. I would like all of you to put your research in the context of this international collaboration. The EU March call will have two topics of interest which are summarized below. School of Tomorrow Objective - To improve the quality and accessiblity of learning using modern IT to defined the school of tomorrow. This will include things such as ubiquitous learning environments, digital libraries, comptuer supported learning, support of cognitively rich activities, and telelearning. The Learning Citizen Objective - To develop, demonstrate and evaluate new IT based approaches for Life Long Learning for individuals outside formal education and training settings, including the potentially socially excluded. This incorporates all aspects of IT supported life long learning. As soon as possible we'll give you the most recent Fifth Framework Workplan with a more precise description of these topics. Until then, you can browse the web pages http://www.cordis.lu/ist. The NSF programs of interest are the Digital Library programs, the ROLE program, the ITR initiative, CISE/EIA research activities in education, and CISE/IIS research activities. You can get information about them from the NSF home page http://www.nsf.gov I would like a brief bio from each of you so that this can be shared with our European colleagues. Eventually (say in a week or so) I would like your ideas of what materials you would present. We haven't decided on details, but we'll probably organize the sessions around themes such as the above using research interests of the participants and incorporating EU/US research intersections. The School of tomorrow, for example, is a very rich topic area that incorporates a lot of ROLE research and IT research. Thanks and looking forward to seeing you all. john --------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: EU=US_Meeting_Agenda.doc EU=US_Meeting_Agenda.doc Type: Microsoft Word Document (application/msword) Encoding: x-uuencode --------------------------------------------------------------------- John C.
