Subject: one more foil for ERDC Y4 for Metacomputing CMS Resent-Date: Sun, 13 Feb 2000 23:51:00 -0500 Resent-From: Geoffrey Fox Resent-To: p_gcf@npac.syr.edu Date: Sat, 12 Feb 2000 22:18:01 -0500 (EST) From: Wojtek Furmanski To: Geoffrey Fox , "David E. Bernholdt" CC: Wojtek Furmanski I include one more foil for the ERDC presentation - it naturally fits as the last foil that either elaborates or replaces the "FMS: MEtacomputing CMS" foil in the original talk that was submitted. It shows speedup plots for a real Metacomputing CMS run i.e. with two Parallel CMS modules running at ERDC and NRL, operating on two halves of a distributed minefield of 60K mines - i.e. each O2K gets a domain of 30K mines and scatters them over processors. Scaling results for 1,2,4,8 nodes are shown in both centers. Larger minefields cannot be run right now in metacomputing mode since jobs with minefields larger than 30K mines need to be executed via the batch queue and there is no mechanism right now to synchronize such queues between various MSRCs or DCs. Small jobs for 30K mines on 8 or less nodes can be executed from the command line and they are synchronized "by hand" i.e. by starting ModSAF or playback at NPAC and then executing interactively both CMS processes in two windows which are logged at ERDC and NRL. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: talk-last-foil.ppt Type: Microsoft Word Document talk-last-foil.ppt (APPLICATION/MSWORD) Encoding: BASE64 Description: erdc-fms-y4-last-foil.ppt
