Subject: ITR Information Date: Tue, 1 Feb 2000 04:20:12 -0500 From: "Richard L. Hilderbrandt" To: "Richard Hilderbrandt" Dear ITR PI: This message is being sent to all PIs who have submitted ITR preproposals for the over $500K competition. The proposals are now being reviewed in preparation for the panel meetings next week, Feb. 7-11. We will be notifying you of the outcome of those panel meetings by e-mail during the week of Feb. 21. At that time you will receive an e-mail with a recommendation encouraging or discouraging the submission of a full proposal. It will be accompanied by a panel summary and by the reviews of your preproposal. As you know, there is also a separate competition for proposals requesting less than $500K. We have received 1800 letters of intent for this competition. We anticipate about 1500 proposals will be submitted during the week of Feb. 14. We are planning to organize 32 panels, with 15 panelists each, to review these proposals. We would like to remind you that if you, or perhaps one or more of your co-PIs, will not be submitting a proposal to the less than $500K competition, you are eligible to serve as a panelist. Panels will be held on the weeks of April 10, May1, and May 8. We will have at least 10 panels per week with 5 being held in Arlington on Monday and Tuesday, and 5 being held in San Francisco on Thursday and Friday. We would surely appreciate your assistance. If you are willing to participate, DO NOT reply to this e-mail; instead, fill out our on-line registration form at http://www.itr.nsf.gov/panelists . This will help us to identify your expertise, and the dates of your availability. Please share this information with your co-PIs with other colleagues in your department who may also be interested in participating in this activity. We need highly qualified experts in all areas of ITR to help with the review process. Thank you, Richard L.
