Subject: T.120 interoperability From: "ahmet uyar" Date: Wed, 4 Apr 2001 10:44:31 -0400 To: "Geoffrey Fox" There are two kinds of interoperability on T.120: network level interoperability and application level interoperability. Network level interoperability: The T.122, T.123, T.124, and T.125 make up the network level of T.120. Network level interoperability deals with conference control and multipoint data transport. Network level interoperability means that a product can work with other T.120 enabled products on the network level. for example, if there is an MCU which supports T.120 on network level, it can hold a conference and T.120 enabled participants can attend it. even though, MCU and the clients are not interoperable at the application level. But all clients must be interoperable at the application level. Application level interoperability: The upper levels(T.126, T.127, T.128) of T.120 specify protocols for common conferencing applications, such as shared whiteboarding and binary file transfer. Applications supporting these protocols can interoperate with any other application that provides similar support regardless of the platform and the vendor. PictureTel claims that LiveShare Plus is fully compatible with NetMeeting. SGI claims that SGIMeeting which runs on IRIX is compatible with Microsoft NetMeeting, SunForum, and HP Visualize Conference. Sun claims that SunForum which runs Solaris is fully H.323 complaint, so T.120 complaint on application level and works fine with MS NetMeeting and PictureTel's LiveShare Plus. HP claims that HP Visualize Conference interoperates with Microsoft's NetMeeting, Sun's SunForum and Silicon Graphics' SGIMeeting. Lotus claims that Lotus Same Time is fully H.323 and T.120 compatible and interoperates with any H.323 or T.120 complaint systems such as MS NetMeeting. CUseeMe claims that CUseeMe Pro is T.120 complaint and interwork with MS Netmeeting. Ahmet Uyar
