Subject: Alliance All Hands meeting From: "Richard Crutcher" Date: Wed, 4 Apr 2001 11:33:55 -0500 To: eotapi@ncsa.uiuc.edu CC: "Bresnahan Glenn" , "Butler Randy" , "Holmes Raquelle" , "Taylor Valerie" , "Vernon Mary" Dear Alliance EOT member: I am writing to call to your attention the All-Hands meeting planned for May 23-25. A preliminary agenda and a registration form can be found on the NCSA home page (top right). This will be an important meeting for the Alliance, at which information on what we have accomplished and where we will be going in the short and long term will be exchanged. I urge you to attend. There are two ways in which you can participate formally. One is to present a poster or a demo of your work. If you would like to do this, please send me a title as soon as possible. Although posters are probably the better way to present your accomplishments at this meeting, if you do want to demo please let me know what you would need to do this. There is expected to be a 45 or 100 Mb/s network into the hotel, but we do not currently plan to provide demo workstations or specialized facilities (immersadesks, etc.) at the meeting. The second way is to participate is to send a proposal for sharing your recent accomplishments during the panel (i.e., presentation/discussion) periods. This proposal can be just a paragraph or two about the key results that you'd propose to present. The panel topics in the preliminary agenda are on the four Alliance X-in-a-box technologies: Linux clusters, grid computing, large-scale visualization displays, and access grid. If your recent accomplishments don't precisely fit into one of these four panel topics, please feel free to send a proposal anyway; if appropriate and possible, we will try to mold the agenda to accomodate presentations that would be of significant interest to the attendees. If we can't fit your presentation into a panel session, we will encourage you to present the topic in a poster. Also, please register everyone in your group who will attend as soon as possible so we will have an idea about attendance. Thanks, Dick Crutcher ------------------- Richard M.
