Shrideep Pallickara is one of the very best PhD students that I met at Syracuse and he has the promise to be one of the leading researchers on an international scale. He has several good achievements under his belt including a intenship at IBM where he did work at a high level according to his supervisor, Dan Sturman who reports Shrideep to be a very strong system builder. Several of his early Syracuse projects including the image toolkit and his masters thesis are extremely impressive. I consider his thesis topic extremely interesting as it studies the message data and delivery architecture to support world-wide communities. His network of servers create the "illusion of peer to peer networks". I see this (and other work in this area) as developing the ideas to be incorporated into a next generation JMS (Java Message Service). Shrideep combines several imporant strengths -- he has an excellent mathematical background and can program skilfully. He is ambitious and wants to work on important areas. He is thoughtful and hardworking. I strongly recmmend Shrideep to IBM. I think he fits your interests well -- both in research area and research style -- combining good ideas with projects that could be products Geoffrey Fox Eppes Professor of Computer Science
