Foil 7 NPAC's model

From Web based Weather Prediction Analysis Rome Lab Quarterly Review for CIV -- October 1 96. by Scott Klasky *

1 One of the most important parts of weather data analysis is to obtain up-to-date weather reports from all over the world.
  • Weather is a highly non-linear global problem. This means that in order to make accurate reports on the weather we need to look at the weather all over the globe.
2 We are starting to use Unidata's LDM to capture the weather data from the NWS. We are also in the progress of enabling this system to capture weather information from ARPS.
  • The weather data will be stored on local disks, and will be put into an Oracle database, which NPAC has expertise in.
