Review Article versus Database Search?

There are several well understood approaches to find out information about a given subject
- Ask an expert (This becomes Collaborative Mentor model using Java Servers on the web)
- Read a review article -- this highly refined high value information which is inevitably somewhat out of date
- Full Web Search withsome sort of keywords --this is poorly refined with low “hit rate” but very up to date
- Subscribe to mailing lists
- Limited Web Search of restricted domain
NHSE is using and linking all these approaches to achieve both high value and timeliness.
- Most effective approach is unclear and important in many areas (outside NHSE) but tradeoff in approaches will be different in different areas.
