1 supports IP, DECnet, IPX, AppleTalk, Mac layer bridging;
2 operates over dialup or leased lines;
3 allows to assign IP address automatically (dynamically);
4 there are no speed limitations built into the PPP protocol;
5 frames have variable sizes;

  • EIA-232E, EIA-422, EIA-423, V.24, V.35
7 Data Link Layer:
  • HDLC- High-level Data Link Control
  • LCP - Link Control Protocol
8 Network Layer:
  • NCP - Network Control Protocol
