Foil 46 Communication

From Master Foilset for CPS615 Introduction -- Material from Culler and Koelbel Computational Science for Simulations -- Fall Semester 1998. by Geoffrey C. Fox, Nancy McCracken

Identify communication requirements
  • If computation in one task requires data located in another, communication is needed
Example: finite difference computation
Must communicate with each neighbor
Xi = (Xi-1 + 2*Xi + Xi+1)/4
Partition creates

I=2 above
