The MPI Forum produced a new standard which include MPI 1.2 clarifications and corrections to MPI 1.1
MPI-2 new topics are:
  • process creation and management, including client/server routines
  • one-sided communications (put/get, active messages)
  • extended collective operations
  • external interfaces
  • I/O
additional language bindings for C++ and Fortran-90
