HPF can be implemented by translating it to OpenMP
  • Good idea on shared-memory machines
  • May have real advantages for optimizing locality and data layout
HPF may call OpenMP directly
  • Proposal being made at HPF Users Group meeting next week
  • Not trivial, since HPF and OpenMP may not agree on data layout
    • Things could get worse if MPI is also implemented on OpenMP
