Microsoft soon released its Office suite of applications. The large base of Win95 users and the ever-growing popularity of the applications themselves rendered the release of customized or multi-featured versions of Office unfeasible. Consequently in order to maintain the user-base something had to be provided to allow the user to customize his working environment to his own convenience. Care had to be taken to see that any such medium would not be very complicated to use and would easily
facilitate rapid development. The ease-of-use and its tight bond with the Windows environment rendered Visual Basic as the ideal medium for this purpose.
