1 It is difficult to compare the various point designs, because the application targets of each individual proposal are so different.
  • Also these each have rather modest funding and can not be expected to satisfy all our requirements
2 Research is thus needed to analyze the suitability of these systems for a handful of common grand challenge problems.
3 Result: a set of quantitative requirements for various classes of systems.
4 We made a start to this with a set of four "Petaflop kernels"
