1 Complete state of a distributed application can be saved in a Database (Oracle) in addition to in XML
2 Therefore, the previous sessions can be recovered from database in addition to XML document
3 Gateway has a simple fault-tolerance model : when either proxy or the real object is down, the system will recover from the database
4 An application consisting of components running at different machines can be defined in XML and started automatically.
5 Instead of manually starting, Gateway servers also can be started through URL easily
