Introduces time to resource allocation
  • Allocation requests for a duration
  • Grant duration <= request duration
Leases can be
  • renewed (granter choice)
  • cancelled (holder choice)
  • exclusive or nonexclusive - depending on the type of the service
Leases can expire - this solves the problem of sevrices become unavailable
