  • connection-oriented technology (PVC, SVC)
  • bandwidth: 25 Mbps, 155 Mbps (OC3), 622 Mbps(OC12)
  • ATM succeeded in WANs
  • LAN: ATM has difficulties to compete with Fast and Giga Eth
