Using Web Technology



	I am planning to use the modern technologies in web to introduce a web site called 

"Education Hub".



	The goal of this web site is to collect and organize the resources, including lectures,

from various professors teaching the same subject in various universities. We will initially 

introduce a nation wide uniform course number for all the subjects. For example, there is a subject called Relational Databases to which a course number called RDAT123 can be given. In that

way, a student coming into our web site can select any subject of his interest and go into that 

link,then select a professor's link and go in that link  where he can find information needed for that subject. 



	The information for a particular subject will include the lectures given by various professors on the same topic, their URLs, the text books they use for that subject, the list of assignments and projects to be done etc. After going through the material given in the website for a particular subject offered by a professor, the student can rank the subject material given by a particular professor based on the usefulness of the material offered. After sometime, there will be a rating for each and every professor, which will guide the students coming in to the web site to select. 



	The end product that I envision is a web site that will have the study materials for a particular subject from various professors working in different universities. In that way a student studying in a lower ranked university will not be deprived of the subject material and ideas offered by a professor from a very high ranked university, because the student is at his will to select the material offered by any professor.



	Initially, we will try to implement the service for the undergraduate level courses and then gradually to advanced graduate level courses and finally incorporating the advanced research areas going on in each and every university.



Implementation Details



	The front end will be designed and implemented using XML(eXtensible Markup Language), the latest markup language proposed by W3C(World Wide Web Consortium). XML is chosen because of the flexibility that it offers(XML is basically a derivation of SGML, Standard General Markup Language, which is an extremely flexible language and at the same time extremely complex).



	Since Oracle is the pioneer in e-Business, it did not take much time for me to select Oracle to be our server. JDBC,Java Database Connectivity, which is powerful way of connecting databases, will be used to connect the front end and the back end(ie Oracle server). In this way we have a reliable, secure and fast way of a learning system, which I'm sure will make "Education Hub" a centralized place where millions of students will benefit the service.
