Hasan Ozdemir is one of the best students to get a Syracuse Computer Science degree over the last decade and he has my strongest recommendation as a software architect and developer. I would be very happy if would stay here as a either a postdoc or engineer in a local company. However I congratulate any company that can attract him. I am very familiar with his work on HLA (object model for distributed simulation) and middleware to support this. This is a well regarded activity at NPAC both for its central technology -- JWORB (Java Web/CORBA server) with HLA and RTI (distributed simulation runtime) -- and applications to miltary simulation. Hasan impressed all with his recent demonstration of linked high performance simulations at SC99 -- the major conference in the high performance computing field. Hasan is a very serious software engineer who can be relied on to produce reliable effective software systems. He is also broadly knowledgeable and writes quite well for someone where English is not his native tongue. He produced for instance an excellent recent report von XML which we used in my class with helpful novel examples. We are midway through writing a book on the "Pragmatic Object Web" and Hasan has made significant contributions. It is a pleasure to have students of this quality. Hasan will succeed whereever he goes.
