Abstract

We report on two projects to investigate HPF from the applications perspective: the HPF-2 Motivating Applications collection effort at the University of Maryland; and the High Performance Fortran Applications (HPFA) project at Syracuse University. We describe some of the applications codes and kernels we have collected and analyzed and have deposited at the FTP and WWW sites at Maryland and Syracuse. We discuss features and efforts to accelerate the uptake of HPF, including: education and training material; the source code collection and documentation; and some industrial and academic user feedback comments we have collected.
