We have not been able to get the students paid as of yet. Subcontract entitled: "Collaborative Environments for Education and Computing" Indiana has the award, they do not anticipate the subaward to us until January 15th. (See message below) We tried to ask Indiana since they have the award if they will go ahead and back the money to get the students paid, they said they cannot do this. below messages from Russ(FSU Sponsored Research)corresponding with Indiana: I received a response to my e-mail about when to expect the next award, and she gave me a date of January 15 since the holidays have to be calculated in. A lot of Sponsored Research Offices close for a week at Christmas, and even if they are not closed, a lot of grant specialists are out of the office on vacation. I am not sure if that is part of her concern that it will take another month. Russ Michele and Cecilia, I received a call from Cheryl Thompson at Indiana University's Sponsored Research, and she said that they could not underwrite or give us an advance on funds. She did say that she had talked to TEresa Miller as well as THeresa Miller about the situation and that THeresa Miller is going to contact NSF again in the hope of getting a commitment in writing out of them about the funds for proposal number 20022035. I understand that she has tried several times before but has not gotten a response from NSF. I will let you know as soon as I hear anything. Russ Subcontract entitled: High Performance JAVA NSF has not given them any word about the award transfer. Everytime Therese at Indiana calls, Mr. Zhang has not been in. They were supposed to call again today, but we have not heard anything. We will back spend for one month only to pay the students. We believe Indiana should be able to back this, since they will be receiving the money. I am going to contact Russ in the morning to get the paperwork started to get the three students who are on the first subcontract paid. But what to do about the rest of the time and students............ We are working very hard to get this settled, but there is only so much we can do here.
