I have chosen Geoffrey as the speaker. You are free to edit the abstract of the paper that we will post in the conference and web site. I need Geoffrey's exact address (he is not responding quickly to email messages). Randy, for some reason we are suppose to follow a specific latex template but the first few commands are not working with winedt. Can you fix them? Specially it prints the page number. I need to submit the abstract tomorrow. Elias ============= Following find the title and abstract of the mini symposium. If there are other demos I will be happy to consider. Problem Solving Environments (PSE) for Computational Science The mini symposium on PSEs will review the current state of the problem solving environment field and attempt to make predictions for the future. Some of the talks will address the principal components and paradigms for building PSEs like software reuse, virtual user interfaces, "collaborating" problem solving, netcentric computing, computational intelligence and related technologies such as recommender systems and portals, and PSE software architecture. In addition to four presentations, the technical contributions of the participants will be posted in the conference and http://www.webpdelab.org site. A Purdue University group will demo a portal for scientific software (DELPHIE) and WebPDELab PSE. The FSU and VPI groups will demo the web based WebFlow and wood-based composite material design PSEs. ------=_NextPart_000_0107_01BF8E71.69D3CC80 Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="fsu.tex" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="fsu.tex" \documentclass{article} \usepackage{psfig} % TeX template for SIAM abstracts. %The only things that need %changing are: title, text of abstract, % and authors. % %\magnification=1095 \nopagenumbers \hoffset=2.75truein \hsize=4.125truein \vsize=9.0truein \tolerance=800%\raggedright \baselineskip=12pt plus 2pt minus 1pt \lineskiplimit=2pt \lineskip=2pt \vglue .60truein \vbox to .5truein{ \centerline{$\underline{\hbox{\strut On the Future of Problem Solving Environments }}$} \vfil}\vskip .25truein \begin{document} \vbox to 3.5truein{\noindent In this presentation we review the current state of the problem solving environment (PSE) field and make projections for the future. Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Dear Professor Houstis: Thank you for submitting your minisymposium proposal on: "PROBLEM SOLVING ENVIRONMENTS (PSE) FOR COMPUTATIONAL SCIENCE". We are very pleased that the response to our call for participation was overwhelming. We have added Sunday September 24 to the program and still the program is quite full! The sessions schedules have just been completed. Your session is scheduled for THURSDAY MORNING, SEPTEMBER 21. The conference headquarters will be at the Wyndham City Center Hotel. SIAM is holding a block of guestrooms at the Wyndham City Center Hotel, and also at the Best Western New Hampshire, and the Wyndham Bristol. Best Western is next door to the Wyndham City Center. The Bristol is just 2 blocks away. The deadline for reservations in all 3 hotels is August 14. The conference program and information on hotel, registration, and transportation will be available on the Web at www.siam.org/meetings/cse00/ by JUNE 1st. It will be a pleasure to see you in Washington. With very best wishes, Steve Ashby Linda Petzold Gilbert Strang Conference Co-chairs If you have any questions to this message, please send it to: flores@siam.org --MIME MULTIPART BOUNDARY=.958495362:+'1 Content-Type: application/octet-stream Content-Id: <1847714740-3@siam.org> Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="RFC822.txt" UmVjZWl2ZWQ6IGZyb20gU1U5OCBbMTkyLjE2OC4yMjYuOThdIGJ5IHNpYW0ub3JnIChjY01haWwg TGluayB0byBTTVRQIFI4LjUyLjAxLjEpDQoJOyBTdW4sIDIzIEFwciAyMDAwIDA4OjU4OjM4IC0w NDAwDQpSZXR1cm4tUGF0aDogZ3NAbWF0aC5taXQuZWR1DQpSZWNlaXZlZDogZnJvbSBtYXRoLm1p dC5lZHUgKFsxOC44Ny4wLjhdKSBieSAxOTIuMTY4LjIyNi45OA0KICAoTm9ydG9uIEFudGlWaXJ1 cyBmb3IgSW50ZXJuZXQgRW1haWwgR2F0ZXdheXMgMS4wKSA7DQogIFN1biwgMjMgQXByIDIwMDAg MTI6NTk6MjcgMDAwMCAoR01UKQ0KUmVjZWl2ZWQ6IGZyb20gc2V2ZXJpLm1pdC5lZHUgKFNFVkVS SS5NSVQuRURVIFsxOC44Ny4wLjY4XSkNCglieSBtYXRoLm1pdC5lZHUgKDguOS4zLzguOS4zKSB3 aXRoIEVTTVRQIGlkIElBQTI5NTE2Ow0KCVN1biwgMjMgQXByIDIwMDAgMDg6NTk6MTggLTA0MDAg KEVEVCkNClJlY2VpdmVkOiAoZnJvbSBnc0Bsb2NhbGhvc3QpIGJ5IHNldmVyaS5taXQuZWR1ICg4 LjkuMy84LjYuOSkgaWQgSUFBMTg5NjI7IFN1biwgMjMgQXByIDIwMDAgMDg6NTk6MTcgLTA0MDAg KEVEVCkNCkRhdGU6IFN1biwgMjMgQXByIDIwMDAgMDg6NTk6MTcgLTA0MDAgKEVEVCkNCkZyb206 IEdpbCBTdHJhbmcgPGdzQG1hdGgubWl0LmVkdT4NCk1lc3NhZ2UtSWQ6IDwyMDAwMDQyMzEyNTku SUFBMTg5NjJAc2V2ZXJpLm1pdC5lZHU+DQpUbzogZmxvcmVzQHNpYW0ub3JnDQpTdWJqZWN0OiBw b3N0ZXIgc2Vzc2lvbg0KQ2M6IGdzQG1hdGgubWl0LmVkdQ0K --MIME MULTIPART BOUNDARY=.958495362:+'1--
