This utility will install an updated NeoMagic MagicMedia256AV Display Adapter Driver on Sony VAIO Notebook Computers with Microsoft Windows 98 (and Windows 98 Second Edition) installed.

IMPORTANT NOTES: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

NOTE:	This utility is only for use with the following Sony Notebooks sold in the United States and Canada: PCG-C1XS PCG-F370 and F390 PCG-F420 and F480 PCG-F520 PCG-N505VE and PCG-N505VX PCG-XG9 PCG-Z505HE and PCG-Z505HS PCG-Z505R and PCG-Z505RX Do not install this utility with any other model of computer (including European or Japanese versions of these notebooks).
NOTE:	It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
NOTE:	To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.

Please follow the steps below to download and install the NMG5W98.EXE program.

1. Click the "Go to Step 2. Software Agreement" link at the bottom of this page.

2. Read the Software License Agreement and click "Accept".

3. Download the NMG5W98.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).

4. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the NMG5W98.EXE file to begin the installation.

5. At the "NeoMagic MagicMedia256AV Display Adapter Driver Utility - Welcome" box, click Continue.

   Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.

   NOTE:

   If either a Severe error: "OpenFile 1 failed", or a message that the update is not for your model of computer appears, continue with the Known Issues section below.

6. If a "ReadOnly File Detected" box appears, click the box next to "Don't display this message again" to check it and then click Yes.

7. At the "Setup Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" (if it isn't already selected) and click Finish.

   NOTE:

   If a "Confirm File Deletion" box appears, you have already installed this update. Click OK to remove the existing installation files and then repeat steps 4-8 to reinstall the update.

   As Windows restarts, the video hardware will be redetected and the updated drivers will be installed.

8. At the "System Settings Change" box, click Yes to restart the system again.

After Windows has restarted the second time, the display adapter driver installation is complete.
