Choice of Vendor:

The area of work is specialized as it involves traditional Web
Graphics and knowledge of the Scalable Vector Graphics SVG
technology. JJ Chung had demonstrated all needed skills in a previous
project with which I am familiar.
I got two other quotes at substantially higher rates. These two individuals
were not familiar with SVG and JJ Chung was ranked in middle of these in
area of Web Graphics.

Scope of Work

Scope of Work is to test a new approach (developed by Fox) to producing high quality learning
material which is based on authoring in Adobe or Macromedia products and
exporting to SVG. JJ Chung is taking a PowerPoint presentation Fox made for
the ERDC Graduate Institute and implementing in SVG with an approach that
can be extended to other lectures. Fox will test her work as it gets done
and feed back suggestions as we proceed in this research.



Technical Evaluation
--------------------
This approach will be used in part of course Fox is teaching
to ERDC Graduate Institute this fall and is a key part of the FSU/IU PET focussed
efforts on "Modular Collaboration Environments" and "Collaborative Portals
for Training and Computational Science".
We are augmenting the shared PowerPoint of the Access Grid with the
powerful shared document model of Garnet -- the portal being developed in second FE
We had not identified this project in the original proposal -- our success
in using SVG has only recently being developed and we did not foretell
that we were so far advanced.
This works benefits current PET program and prepares for PET2 with a course
crossing boundaries of this projects.
