This is how I am able to fund some of students whose theses were on
collaborative systems and were part of activities in PET1
now assigned to HPTi. So budgets described are directed at
the described efforts with synergy to related work on
portals for high energy physics and earthquake science and collaboration 
funded by Lilly.

No money goes to Marlon Pierce as he is funded separately
Marlon will however play a major role

ET 016 Gateway Infrastructure Enhancements

This budget funds 2 students with staff support funded through non PET funds
The activity can be split into two if necessary (options)
I enclose a budget for $34975.88 (nominal $35K) each covering
Total budget is $69951.76 (nominal $70K)
a student, travel and a PC 

a) Integrate Web Service standards into Gateway using new Java-XML
   integration  $34975.88 
b) Use latest middle tier practice (Enterprise Javabeans) to replace
   middle tier component architecture developed at NPAC before
   EJB became $34975.88

CSM 011 Collaborative Gateway--ICE Integrated PSE

This funds some of Fox's time and 3 students for
a total budget of $100,063.32
The effort can be split into two

a) Gateway Workflow and ICE coupling for remote visualization $41123.95
b) Integration with Collaborative Portal $58939.37


CSM 012 Gateway PSE Support
As this involves support of Gateway system, here we put staff scientists at
IU (mix of web design and software engineer at 35% total effort) plus one student. 
Web support salary is $40K per year and software engineer is $50K per year

The total is $60,355.78 (nominal $60K)
