So I will wait and send the submission just before I leave, so it should be up about mid-Jan when I get back. Anyway, here are some of the responses so far from the limited mailing I sent out earlier in the week: >From jbelknap@INS.INFONET.NET Fri Dec 9 12:20:16 1994 Date: Thu, 08 Dec 1994 21:45:13 CST From: jbelknap@INS.INFONET.NET To: kidsweb@npac.syr.edu Subject: Kidsweb is great! I just read about kidsweb on my listserv KIDSPHERE. I tried it immediately, and it was great. I loved the sports information. Along with the sites that might help with educational informational needs, I always keep in mind that to kids, recreational needs are often what keep them smiling in the library. Just like adults, they need their little percs now and then. I hope your web page stays there. I plan to use it often. Thanks!! To whom... Congrats on the fantastic effort put in to create Kid's Web. I just finished the briefest of tours. I'm the director of an alternative school serving 11-14-year-olds this year in the Seattle area. I'd like my students to be aware of Kid's Web and will be showing it to them at our next Computer class on Monday. I also have a request... I've been asked to author an article on computer uses of education with a target audience being parents. The article is slated to be included in a book due out next August. My request is to gain access to those involved in Kid's Web, conduct an interview by e-mail (or maybe through a MOO?) and include Kid's Web info as an example of educational resources for kids on the World Wide Web. What do you think? I look forward to hearing from you. PEInet a network connecting many teachers and schools in the metropolitan Kansas City, Missouri area is interested in sharing information and having students and teachers contribute to this effort. We have a group of young people who participate as Mo. "ShowMe" scholars who have at their disposal information and original historical documents regarding the civil war in this area, the Oregon trail, Lewis & Clark and a vast resource library of all kinds of information. Let me know if this is something you might like to include---or if there are other topics of interest from our resourceful midwesterners.
