My name is Yu-He. The English pronunciation of my name sounds a bit funny to me, and should also be funny to American people. My parents had never foreseen the way the American people called me, otherwise I bet they would have not given me this name.

But a friend of mine has a blessing interpretation for my name, that is "full of treasure". Although I knew the two Chinese characters of my first name mean "jade" and "river", I never thought it was a "river of jade". Well, hopefully it will become true someday.

Born in Shihezi, a small city in northwest China, I had ever dreamed to be an astronomer. I had made a telescope by myself and quite enjoyed for a while the magnificance of the universe. But obviously my dream of being an astronomer never came true.

Still I was always facinated by the cause and effect of light. That is why I have been hanging around telescopes, stars and planets, optics, paintings, photographs, graphics, computer graphics, and computer software developement. You see, my devotion to serious work and passion for sparetime interests is always an unsolved dilemma. I have long been accustomed to it and become a man of indifference. In order for my son's or daughter's dream to become true, I have to work a way out for them and, as a side effect, for myself.

I am not work ethic, but when I start to do something I am very easy to indulge myself in it. That's why I prefer to play than to work. We have a group of people playing cards, also volleyball, every weekend. I went fishing a lot this year and had caught a catfish 23 inches long. I like traveling and sightseeing. The colorful foliage of Central New York facinated me in the second place.

The profundity of light is forever a cherished mystery to me.
