Examples of Applications Areas
Distributed computing environments encompass a wide range of computing
paradigms - from Virtual Shared Memory (VSM) to Message Passing (MP) -
and can include a wide range of environments from those controlled by
Cluster Management Software
(CMS) to those which are embedded in the operating system kernel to
provide the image of single system
(DCCE) .
The following list gives some examples of areas that papers submitted to
this special should be deal with. If there is any doubts as to whether
the area that you are working in is applicable, please contact the Guest
Editor - Mark Baker at mab@npac.syr.edu
- Experiences using a CMS package with commercial applications.
- Comparisons of the performance characteristics encountered when
running applications under different environments.
- Experiences of using similar computing environments on different
hardware platforms.
- Load balancing applications.
- Experiences of using various different environments -
from Virtual Shared Memory to Message Passing.
- Application responsiveness and scalability.
- Parameter estimation for performance modelling of applications.
- Monitoring and modeling applications.
