TITLE: HPCC Educational CD-ROM INVESTIGATOR: David Bernholdt DESCRIPTION: NPAC and other PET partners have a sizable volume of educational materials on various areas of HPCC which are suitable for asynchronous use, by DoD researchers wishing to increase their familiarity with various HPCC techniques and tools through self-study. This project represents the beginning of what will be an on-going effort to update and collect this material and publish it on CD-ROM for convenient distribution to the user community. Content of the CD-ROMs is guided by an editorial board including Jack Dongarra (Univ. of Tennessee), Geoffrey Fox (Syracuse Univ.), Chuck Koelbel (Rice Univ.), Joe Thompson (Mississippi State Univ.), and Louis Turcotte (CEWES MSRC). The first CD-ROM, entitled "Overview of Computational Science: HPCC Technology and Applications", was distributed at the 8th Annual DoD HPC User's Group Conference. It contains some ??? MB of material which is easily accessed with any recent web browser. Contents of the disc include: * CPS 615 -- Computational Science for Simulation Applications Lectures from CPS 615 and other courses in Syracuse University's Computational Science Curriculum. Includes 33 foil sets containing more than 1900 foils. * The complete on-line versions of two HPC books: o Parallel Computing Works! by Geoffrey C. Fox, Roy D. Williams, and Paul C. Messina o Designing and Building Parallel Programs: Concepts and Tools for Parallel Software Engineering by Ian Foster * Selected Technical Reports: 18 reports on general HPC issues from a variety of sources * Standards Documents: Message Passing Interface (MPI) versions 1.1 and 2.0, High Performance Fortran (HPF) versions 1.1 and 2.0 * Computational Science Reference Pointers: More than 200 links to additional material available on the web at NPAC and other sites.
