NAVO PET Academic Affiliates Quarterly Report Syracuse University 4th Quarter '98
Project Title: TANGO
Principal Investigator: Geoffrey Fox
Other Project Personnel: David Bernholdt, Nancy McCracken, Marek Podgorny
Accomplishments This Quarter
19-21 Aug 1998: Tango administration class offered at Jackson State University, attended by 3 NAVO staff and two people from the NAVO PET Team. This training covered installation, operation, and management of the TangoInteractive server system.
7 Sep 1998: Three "focused effort" proposals submitted to Jack Morgan. Two relate to Tango, one to High Performance Commodity Computing (HPcc)
10-11 Sep 1998: Tango setup and tutorial on-site at NAVO. Marek Podgorny and two of his group assisted in the setup of Tango on site and provided a short demonstration/tutorial. Weather and flight delays caused problems with this trip and caused the cancellation of a more extensive Tango tutorial which was meant to include off-site participants. This will be rescheduled at a later date.
23-25 Sep 1998: Java Training on-site at NAVO. Although only four of the nine registered students showed up, this class went well, and everyone, including the instructor was able to leave in time to beat Hurricane Georges.
