For those of you who haven't yet submitted homework 4, deadline is extended to midnight on Wednesday.
Note on access to course hosts. Because of a glitch in the way passwords were set up, you may have to change your password on sirah using the passwd command before you can access the other 4 hosts. After changing the password, allow one hour for password propagation before attempting to log in to cabernet, etc. (You can change your password back to the current setting afterwards, but you do need to change it to something different temporarily).
March 20- Apologies... I still haven't worked out a list of "official" port/host allocations. For now, please choose a "random" port number on sirah. Also, I will be extending the homework deadline by a couple of days.
January 19- Most of you should by now have received account details from me. If you have not, please contact me. Please check ASAP that you are able to access your account on the CSIT host computer, sirah. Please don't leave this till the last minute, when you have to submit your homework next week!
January 10- Please register in the course database as soon as possible. This database is used by us to maintain student contact information, assignment grades, etc. It is also used to publish assignment grades. Once you have registered in the database, a UNIX account will be created for you on dedicated course machines in CSIT. These are hosts where you may develop---and must submit---your assignment materials.
Follow the "Student Records" link from the home page. Select, CIS5930-04, Spring 01. Click one of the "Course Sign-Up" buttons. A sign-up form will appear:

September 18- Instructions for submitting homework II will be
posted here by Wednesday at the latest. Some notes on I/O in Java (to help
you with homework II) can be found
here. Grades for homework I will be
available through the course database by Tuesday evening.

September 21- If you have registered in the course database, you
should now be able to read your grades for homework I there.
On sirah you will find a directory called /home/project/it1fall00/homework2/uid where uid is your login ID. To submit homework II, please copy your files into this directory.
September 24- The deadline for submitting homework II has been
extended to Monday midnight, due to the disruption by
Friday's storm.
October 4- The deadline for submitting homework III has been
extended to midnight on Monday, 9th October. Files
should be copied to your personal subdirectory in
/home/project/it1fall00/homework3/, on
sirah.
October 8- sirah and associated hosts remain
unavailable, having apparently been down most of the weekend. Many
apologies for the inconvenience. Watch this space for announcements.

Due to problems with the course hosts over the weekend, the
the deadline for submitting homework III has been
extended again, to midnight on Wednesday, 11th October.
October 29- As announced in class last week, working deadline

November 20- Accounts have been created for all students on the Oracle server on sirah. Your user name is the same as your UNIX login ID; your initial password is the same as your user name (not the same as your UNIX password!)
