This course continues the study of computational science in the information track. The introductory course (CPS 616) has a large number of topic modules describing the basic techniques of many topic areas in networks, multimedia, digital media, user interfaces, high performance client/servers, software for the WWW, collaborative technologies, and geographic information systems.
In contrast, this course examines a few information applications in detail, aiming for a sophistication representing the best current techniques. Three topics would typically be treated in a semester, with students required to carry out a detailed implementation project for one of the topics, working either individually or in teams.
