1 The PVM system provides a set of user interface routines that may be incorporated into existing C or Fortran programs.
2 Routines exist for the process control, message transmission and reception, broadcasting, synchronisation via barriers, mutual exclusion, shared memory, dynamic process groups and some forms of error detection and recovery.
