2 It is fairly small, with a limited user routine library, yet it is sufficient to implement any parallel programming scheme.
3 There is a large and growing user base.
4 There are tools (XPVM) for debugging, performance analysis and visualisation.
5 Also, continued upgrades are expected in the areas of visualisation, fault tolerance, multimedia applications and performance optimisation for specific architectures.
