Foil 131 Advantages/Disadvantages to Using PVM

1 Disadvantages
2 Performance: Even with recent advancements, PVM may be slower than other message passing languages
3 There is no real PVM standard
4 It is deficient in some of the message passing functionality.
5 Limited fault tolerance. The user must monitor the processes and hosts to insure that no hosts have gone down during execution. In this event, the user must reset the virtual machine and restart the processes.
