Foil 97 Near and Future Projects

From MetaComputing -- MRA Meeting Part II:The Practical Issues Tutorial for CRPC MRA Meeting at Cornell -- May 7 1996. by Mark Baker, Geoffrey Fox

1 A WWW Based Computing Project Undertaken at NPAC
2 In collaboration with Boston University and Cooperating Systems NPAC has been developing concepts and prototypes of "Compute-Webs" over the last year.
3 This work is partly motivated by the integration of information processing and computation for both a better programming environment and for a natural support of data intensive computing.
4 Further the Web itself represents the largest available computer with worldwide some 20 million potential nodes which is expected to grow by a factor of 10 as the Information Superhighway is deployed fully.
