Foil 2 Gateway proposal

From Status and Plans for CEA Problem Solving Environment ASC Gateway Project Dayton Ohio -- January 7 1999. by John Nehrbass,Furrukh Khan

1 Follow Geoffery Fox's(NPAC) flexible and scalable three tier architecture
2 NPAC provides the "glue" for this architecture by setting up the middle tier server. This middle ware will handle multiple protocols, such as HTTP, RMI, CORBA etc. We will be concerned with the (browser based) front end to middle tier communication, as well as the middle tier to the HPC backend interaction. Interact closely with the NPAC team to develop interfaces for these communications.
3 Front end middle tier interaction will be built on excellent CCM work. May use Java based technology to implement. Concentrate on developing standard interfaces to communicate between the middle ware and the back end. Extensive effort involving the CEA community.
